The Progress Paddlers
On Sunday 14th May we took part in the East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival. Held at Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, the Dragon Boat Festival is open to everyone and over 40 teams battled it out over the 200m race course, watched by several thousand spectators.
Our team of 10 named the 'Progress Paddlers' took part in 3 races, coming 15th out of 21 teams. Having never taken part in it before we were proud of our performance and all had a great day!
The event was in aid of East Coast Hospice. The Charity began life in January 2007 when a group of like-minded local people came together as the founding trustees, determined to provide inpatient and day-care specialist palliative care facilities for terminally ill people in the Yarmouth and Waveney area where there has never been a hospice, and where there were no other plans to provide one. They are currently fundraising to build a ten-bed specialist palliative care facility with day-care and complementary therapies for the people of Great Yarmouth & Waveney.
We would like to thank Gable Events for a great fun and well organised day!
